LEVEL I ENTRANCE EXAMINATION

For candidates who do not play: aptitude test

For candidates who play: performance test

1. Esecuzione di due studi liberamente scelti dai metodi A. Magnani o X.Léfèvre, oppure altro equivalente. In sostituzione di uno studio potrà essere eseguito un facile brano con accompagnamento pianistico
2. Playing scales up to three sharps and three flats
3. Reading an easy passage at first sight

LEVEL II ENTRANCE EXAMINATION

1. Scales and arpeggios up to 3 alterations, including the chromatic scale
2. An easy piece of chamber music
3. Two studies chosen by the committee out of 4 submitted (one for each group):
   • studio fra: August Périer “Le debuttant Clarinettist” – Friedrich Demnitz “Studi Elementari”
   • studio fra: Aurelio Magnani Metodo per clarinetto “16 Studi” – Xavier Lefèvre Metodo per clarinetto
   • studio: Paul Jeanjean “20 Studi Progressivi e Melodici”
   • study: free choice of another author
   • An easy reading passage at first sight

LEVEL III ENTRANCE EXAMINATION

1. A concert chosen from:
   • Carl Maria von Weber “Concertino” op.26 per clarinetto e pianoforte
   • a Concerto by Johann or Karl Stamitz
   • other compositions of equal technical-interpretive level
2. Scales and Arpeggios by heart
3. Tied and untied third jumps
4. Extraction of two studies out of 4 submitted (one from each group):
   • studio fra: Aurelio Magnani Metodo per clarinetto “12 Capricci” – Cyrille Rose 40 studi
   • studio fra: Hyacinthe Klosé “20 Studi di Genere e Meccanismo” – Hyacinthe Klosé “20 Studi Caratteristici” – August Périer “20 Studi”
   • studio: Paul Jeanjean “20 Studi Progressivi e Melodici”
   • studio fra: Vincenzo Gambaro “21 Capricci” – Robert Stark “10 Studi” op. 40
5. Reading at first sight and transporting an easy piece in A and C
6. Demonstrate the ability to perform easy improvisations
