- Candidates with no prior musical experience: the entrance examination comprises rhythmic aptitude tests, intonation, and motor coordination.
- Candidates who already play an instrument: the entrance exam includes instrumental performance tests with a free programme of a difficulty level appropriate to the candidate's technical and musical abilities, which should include studies, scales and pieces of comparable difficulty and variety to those required for the relevant current certifications at the “G. Verdi” Conservatory of Milan for which admission is requested. The committee has the right to listen to all or part of the submitted programme.
